Two rounds of the Enduro World Championship are already in history. The second competition for 2011 was held in Portugal last weekend (April 9-10) and the starting list numbered 102 riders. Almost 10 000 fans watched the two-days off-road show next to Valde de Cambra.
Just as in Rd 1 finish riders occupied the top places in Enduro 1 category. It looks like Eero Remes is going to be a serious rival of the winner in Spain – Juha Salminen. The multiply world champion finished in first on Saturday but Remes prevailed easy on Sunday. Rodrig Thain was the only pilot who broke the domination of the Finish riders. He finished third the two days.
Johny Aubert proved that he can be a potential favorite for the title in Enduro 2 category although Antoan Meo has a comfortable advance of 50 points. The KTM pilot won the Saturday and Sunday races and melted 9 points from the passive but he still sits on 7th place in the general standings. Pierre Alexandre Rennet finished second the first day, and Meo completed the podium. The third in the provisional standings Ivan Cervantes didn’t have so much luck and finished the weekend with two 5 places.
In the Enduro 3 category David Knight dominated from the beginning to the end of the Saturday’s race. The KTM rider spent a pretty heavy weekend in Spain but it looks like he has already forgotten about it. Knight topped this class on Sunday two after a great battle between him and two of his main rivals – Nambotin and Guilame.
The next round of the Enduro World Championship will be held in Italy on May 14-15th.
